Whether you do it yourself or you have help, washing your clothes, bedsheets, towels, and more is crucial to humans and has many benefits!

Benefits

Laundry day may not be everyone’s favorite, but since humans started wearing clothes 200,000 years ago, there’s been a need to wash clothes. The main benefit of washing your clothes and bedding frequently is that it reduces the frequency of diseases, respiratory infections, scabies, and other skin infections. Dirty clothes can harbor microorganisms and bacteria, body odor can invite fungi to form which can be hazardous to skin and the spores can cause respiratory issues. Dirty underwear is an especially nasty subject, with the spreads of germs through bodily fluids making infections more likely. Did you know that the Typhoid Fever epidemic of the 1900s was partially caused by lack of hygiene in hand washing and soiled clothes?

Challenges

Providing washing machines is generally seen as the responsibility of residents, but with a growing number of renters vs. home owners in the US, access to laundry facilities continues to be a challenge to some. This is why laundromats first opened in 1934 and continued to grow in popularity around the country ever since.

But what happens when you live in a remote area? Or if your town or neighborhood has been struck by a disaster? Traditional brick and mortar laundromats aren’t always accessible, which is why Remote Laundry Room seeks to bridge the gap and make this basic hygienic need accessible to everyone.
